Meet Ken Reid, Business Development Manager at ITWORX UK. Ken joined the team in September 2024 and brings a thoughtful, people-first approach to business development, grounded in trust, relationships, and long-term value.
A People-First Approach to Business Development
Ken describes himself as someone who “genuinely enjoys connecting with people, understanding what matters to them, and helping solve problems that remove stress from their day.” Having lived and worked in the North East for much of his life, he cares deeply about local businesses, the wider community, and the people who keep them running.
Ken was drawn to ITWORX UK by its culture and values. “The employee ownership, the pride in our service, and the genuine sense that everyone here cares really stood out to me,” he says. “It’s rare to find a company where the team, the clients and the community all feel connected. After 18 months here, I can honestly say I’ve never heard a single bad word about the company — that speaks volumes about the people and the culture we’ve built.”
A Day in the Life of Business Development
No two days are the same for Ken — something he genuinely enjoys. His role involves meeting prospective clients, listening carefully to their challenges, pressures, and plans, and working closely with the ITWORX UK team to ensure the right support is in place.
“A lot of my role is about listening,” Ken explains. “Understanding people’s worries and pressures, thinking ahead constructively, and making sure they know they have a great, reliable team in their corner who can deliver positive outcomes for their business and their people.”
What Ken Enjoys Most About ITWORX UK
For Ken, the culture at ITWORX UK is what truly sets it apart. “The support, the trust and the warmth,” he says. “People here genuinely want to do the right thing — for each other and for our clients.”
He adds that giving customers peace of mind is central to what the team does. “Making people feel safe, secure and supported — that ethos is what makes ITWORX UK special. There’s a culture here that enables people to play to their strengths and truly contribute,” he continues. “As an ideas person, that genuinely excites me. I love being able to contribute to our growth strategies and help shape where we’re going next.”
Outside of Work
Outside of work, Ken enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly around the River Dee and in the local countryside. He has a strong interest in salmon fishing and conservation, enjoys walking and attending community events, and values time spent bringing people together.
Ken is a well-known advocate for wild salmon and runs a highly engaged Salmon Fishing Club on Facebook with more than 30,000 members. He is also actively involved with government bodies and NGOs, working to help secure stronger protections for wild salmon, now a red-listed endangered species.
“People need people in their lives,” Ken says — a belief that inspired his Netwalking idea, combining conversation, connection and time outdoors.
