Meet Callum Rankin, Systems Technician at ITWORX UK

Say hello to Callum Rankin, one of our Systems Technicians at ITWORX UK. Callum joined the team in February 2023 and has become a valued member of the team, bringing enthusiasm, technical know-how, and a strong desire to help customers every day.

Starting a Career in IT

Callum’s interest in IT began early. Growing up in a household where his father worked in IT, he was exposed to technology from a young age — starting with games like Snake and Pinball on the family computer! That early curiosity soon grew into a passion, fuelled further by video games after school.

Determined to turn that interest into a career, Callum studied computing at college, completing both an HNC and HND, before spending two years at Robert Gordon University, where he earned a degree in Computer Network Management and Design.

His journey to ITWORX UK came through a personal connection — his brother Jake was already part of the team. When a role opened for a Network Engineer, Callum applied and was delighted to join ITWORX UK as a Services Technician, marking his first full-time role in the IT industry.

A Day in the Life of a Systems Technician

No two days are the same for Callum at ITWORX UK. His mornings typically focus on answering phone calls, managing and picking up new service desk tickets, and — when on rota — checking client backups to ensure everything is running smoothly.

In the afternoons, Callum continues supporting customers via the service desk and, when things are quieter, gets involved in project work. 

What Callum Enjoys Most About ITWORX UK

Callum enjoys the challenge of solving customer problems and the opportunity to work with new software and technologies. He also values being part of a supportive service desk team, where collaboration and shared learning are part of everyday life.

Outside of Work

When he’s not working, Callum spends much of his time with his two energetic Jack Russell dogs, Tess and Wilf, taking them on hikes and trails. He also enjoys driving, working on his car, and keeping active with gym sessions and weight training.
