Say hello to Steven McCluskey, our Network Engineer at ITWORX UK. Steven joined the business in June 2023 and brings a strong technical background, with experience across both the public and private sector.
Originally from Dundee, Steven has spent time living and working across Scotland, including Aberdeen, Fife, and Edinburgh, before returning to Aberdeen.
Starting a Career in IT
Steven began his journey in IT by studying an HND in Electronics & Computer Engineering at Dundee College. During his studies, he discovered a particular interest in computing, which led him to further specialise and complete his Honours degree in Computing and Networks at Abertay University.
He was drawn to ITWORX UK by its employee-owned structure, as well as the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and network technologies.
A Day in the Life of a Network Engineer
Steven’s day typically begins with reviewing network portals to ensure systems are running at optimum performance, as well as identifying and addressing any urgent security vulnerabilities or network outages.
Once initial checks are complete, he focuses on emails, keeping client managers and account managers updated on the progress of projects and support tickets.
What Steven Enjoys Most About ITWORX UK
For Steven, one of the most enjoyable aspects of working at ITWORX UK is the breadth of work. One day might involve working with phone systems, while another could be focused on troubleshooting network issues or supporting ongoing projects.
