Say hello to Mark Kerrigan, our Service Desk Engineer at ITWORX UK. Mark joined the business in June 2019 and has spent the past seven years supporting customers from both the service desk and face-to-face through onsite visits.

From Security to IT

Before moving into IT, Mark spent 16 years working in the security industry (and no, not cyber security!).

Looking for a new challenge and a long-term career change, he began studying IT through distance learning to build his knowledge and open new opportunities.

ITWORX UK marked the start of his journey in IT. Since joining, he has continued to develop his skills and build hands-on experience across the service desk and onsite support.

A Day in the Life of a Service Desk Engineer

Mark’s role is varied and hands-on. A typical day involves picking up and progressing support tickets, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring customers receive timely and effective resolutions.

In addition to service desk responsibilities, Mark regularly travels to customer sites to carry out onsite visits, whether that’s for scheduled support or to investigate and resolve more complex issues in person.

What Mark Enjoys Most About ITWORX UK

For Mark, one of the standout aspects of working at ITWORX UK is the variety. No two days are the same, as one day might be focused on the service desk, while the next could involve visiting client sites and working face-to-face with customers.

Mark said, “This mix of environments and challenges makes the role both interesting and rewarding, while also providing continuous opportunities to learn.”
