Enabling Cloud Migration Through Resilient Network Infrastructure

The Context

As organisations expand geographically and adopt cloud-based platforms, network infrastructure must evolve to deliver higher performance, stronger resilience, and consistent security across all locations.

This case centres on a long-established UK manufacturing business operating multiple offices and showroom locations nationwide. With over a century of heritage behind its parent brand and decades of operation in the UK market, the organisation needed to modernise its IT estate while maintaining uninterrupted service delivery.

As the business increased its physical footprint and began transitioning from on-premise systems toward cloud services, reliable high-throughput connectivity became a critical operational requirement. Key corporate services — including telephony and shared business platforms — were distributed across two primary offices to improve resilience, meaning continuous connectivity between sites was essential.

We were engaged to design and implement infrastructure capable of supporting a secure and scalable move to the cloud.

The Challenge

The organisation’s existing connectivity model was no longer sufficient to support its growth or cloud adoption strategy.

Both main offices needed constant, high-availability connectivity to ensure access to shared corporate resources that supported showroom operations nationwide. Any disruption risked impacting communications, productivity, and customer service.

At the same time, expanding branch locations increased complexity for IT administration. Provisioning new sites was time-consuming, troubleshooting lacked visibility, and maintaining consistent cyber security controls across offices and showrooms presented an ongoing challenge.

The business required an infrastructure that could:

  • Deliver high-throughput, resilient connectivity between core locations
  • Provide secure access to cloud platforms and shared services
  • Simplify deployment of new sites
  • Enforce consistent security policies across the organisation

The Solution

Following a full assessment of the existing environment, we implemented a modern, cloud-ready network architecture designed around resilience, visibility, and security.

High-Availability Core Connectivity

To support continuous operations, high-availability firewall pairs were deployed across both primary office locations. Each site was provisioned with dual gigabit internet connections, ensuring resilient connectivity and automatic failover protection.

This created a stable foundation capable of supporting cloud workloads while maintaining uninterrupted access to critical internal systems.

Secure Multi-Site Networking

All branch showrooms were equipped with centrally managed network appliances configured for secure AutoVPN connectivity. This allowed every location to connect seamlessly to corporate systems while maintaining encrypted communication between sites.

The approach standardised networking across the organisation and significantly simplified deployment of new offices and showrooms.

Improved Visibility & Network Performance

To improve operational oversight and reduce troubleshooting time, modern switching and wireless infrastructure was deployed throughout all locations. Centralised management provided IT administrators with full visibility of wired and wireless activity, enabling faster diagnostics and proactive management.

Strengthening Security & Cloud Governance

Organisation-wide security policies were introduced to align with corporate standards, including:

  • Intrusion prevention at the network edge
  • Anti-malware and content filtering controls
  • Application firewall rules to prevent unauthorised “shadow IT” usage
  • Encrypted DNS protection across all users and devices

These measures ensured secure access to approved cloud platforms while reducing organisational risk.

The Results

The organisation now operates on a resilient, cloud-ready network platform capable of supporting continued growth and digital transformation.

Key outcomes included:

  • Significant performance improvements across cloud-based systems, boosting staff productivity
  • Reliable connectivity between offices, ensuring uninterrupted access to shared services and telephony platforms
  • Faster onboarding of new showroom locations through standardised deployment
  • Secure remote working capabilities introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic

Most importantly, the business now benefits from infrastructure that supports long-term scalability. Network performance, security, and operational efficiency are aligned with the organisation’s strategic shift toward cloud-first operations.

Through a structured partnership and forward-looking design, connectivity has become an enabler of growth rather than a constraint.
