Ken Reid joined ITWORX UK three months ago as Business Development Manager, bringing with him a wealth of experience from across local, national, and international markets. In this interview, Ken shares his journey, his first impressions of the company, and his focus areas in helping ITWORX UK continue to deliver comprehensive IT Support services across the North East of Scotland.

Q: Ken, can you share a bit about your professional journey before joining ITWORX UK?

I've had the privilege of working with some of the leading local, national, and international companies, holding roles across sales, marketing, and business development leadership. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with some truly exceptional teams. It’s been a rewarding career, and each role has built my ability to help businesses grow and adapt to the challenges they face in a constantly changing environment.

Q: What were your first impressions of ITWORX UK and the team?

From the moment I joined, I was impressed by how focused and professional the team is. There’s a strong sense of purpose here, with a clear commitment to delivering exceptional IT services to a broad range of businesses across the North East of Scotland. The level of expertise within the team is apparent, and I’ve already seen how well the team work together to make a significant impact.

Q: What have been your main areas of focus in the first few months?

In my first few months, I’ve really focused on understanding the needs of businesses across the North East. It’s been great to connect with local companies and listen to their challenges, as well as explore how ITWORX UK can help support their goals. The reputation we've built in the region is something I’m proud to continue, and it’s been fantastic to strengthen existing relationships while getting to know new customers. There is a real sense of community and collaboration here—people genuinely want to see each other succeed. It's been a rewarding experience to be part of that.

Q: Has there been anything about the industry or ITWORX UK that surprised you?

One thing that really stood out to me is how many businesses are looking for more personalised IT support to address specific challenges they’re facing. It’s not about the industry falling short, but rather about how ITWORX UK can step in to provide tailored solutions that truly meet their needs. What I love about our approach is how we take the time to understand each client’s unique requirements, offering cost-effective and innovative solutions that enhance their operations. The team’s commitment to providing excellent service and ensuring our customers always feel supported is something that really resonates with me.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your role?

What stands out to me is the collaborative, supportive culture within the team. It’s clear that everyone at ITWORX UK is invested in not only the success of the company but also in supporting one another. A motivated and engaged team is essential for providing top-tier service to our clients. Additionally, I love the opportunity to meet new people, hear their challenges, and discuss how we can help. It’s rewarding to work in an environment where you know the solutions you provide truly make a difference.

Q: Can you share a memorable moment or experience during your time at ITWORX UK?

A particularly memorable moment was attending the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce Energy Transition Breakfast. It was insightful to hear industry leaders discuss the challenges the energy sector faces, especially regarding the transition to more sustainable energy solutions. The knowledge and passion demonstrated by the experts in the room highlighted the importance of collaboration between the sector and local policymakers to ensure long-term stability and prosperity for the North East. As ITWORX UK continues to support businesses in this region, it’s crucial that we remain aligned with these larger conversations around economic growth and energy security.

Q: What do you believe sets ITWORX UK apart from other IT service providers?

ITWORX UK has built a strong foundation over the last 14 years, focusing on providing personalised, high-quality IT solutions to businesses across the North East. Our long-standing relationships with clients, demonstrated by a client retention rate of 98%, speak to the effectiveness of our approach.
